The leaded-glass windows were carefully secured in place by Mr. Manning. Note the exquisite beauty and color of "The Good Shepherd," the window facing Catawba Avenue which was dedicated to the founder of the Church. Dedication Sunday was May 13, 1928, coinciding with the 56th anniversary. Difficult times were ahead as the 1929 depression affected everyone. Deacon Smith spent hours going from house to house collecting often only nickels and dimes until the mortgage payment was met each month.
