1888 - 1895

John Keylor from 1888-1895. During Rev. Keylor’s ministry a baptistry was added to the church. Previously immersions took place in the stream on N. Boulevard, near where the railroad water tank once stood.
The noisy drilling of the trains was so disturbing to the services that the members were quite dissatisfied with the location of their church. Therefore, they decided to put the church and lot up for sale. The offered price was so low, it was more advantageous to consider moving the building.

Daniel Mills donated the ground where the east part of the present church stands on Catawba Avenue.
Mrs. Hattie Russell pledged $500 to carry on the work.
